Honoring the Animal
Many indigenous peoples view hunting as a
sacred experience where the animal surrenders its physical
body for the hunter’s
survival. To honor that ultimate gift which the animal has
given, the hunter uses as much of the animal as possible, seeing
that nothing goes to waste. This course will show you how to
use all parts of an animal as you make bone awls, needles,
fish hooks, and other tools; process the sinew, intestine,
and hide for cordage; sew rawhide containers, make hide glue
and much more. This is a hands-on program emphasizing a respect
for the gift of the animals, while adding wonderful and useful
tools to your craft box or basket.
