Obsidian Knife Making

In this course you will take your flintknapping skills to new levels while creating a functional and beautiful stone knife. Blades will be hafted into a handle of wood using sinew and natural glues including hide glue and pine pitch. You may choose to design your knife after one of the many examples available including replicas of prehistoric knives, or make a knife of your own design. Although wood will be provided for handles, please feel free to bring bone, antler, or any special wood you would like to use. Students who have completed our Flintknapping Course are welcome to register for this informative, hands-on program. One or more knives can be made in class, depending on each student's ability. We hope you will join us to explore these useful tools that are truly works of art.
