Work Trade

Interested in learning more about primitive living or seeking to solidify your skills? Want to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes at our courses? Would you enjoy the chance to experience almost every regular enrollment course we offer? Each year we look for one motivated individual interested in a work trade position here at Earthwalk Northwest. We want to open up our courses to people who might not otherwise be able to attend because of limited finances. We've found that the program is a fantastic chance for participants to learn comprehensive skills in exchange for some much needed work on site at Earthwalk Northwest.

Participants will have the option of taking any or all of the following open enrollment courses from March 15th and August 31st, 2007:

(Although room and board are not provided as part of the work trade, all meals and accommodations that are regularly included at a course will be provided).

In exchange for a season of programs we are seeking 15 hours per week of work. Most activities will be grounds work including planting and tending the vegetable garden, raking, pruning, and mowing, as well as preparing course materials for programs. We require that a portion of the work trade hours go towards organizing and packing program supplies prior to overnight courses and unpacking and reshelving them immediately upon returning from the course. This usually takes a few hours total per course, and is an essential part of the exchange.

We are looking for an individual who is self-motivated, has a good work ethic, and is passionate about learning primitive living skills. Applicants must be physically fit enough to perform the required work, and must have their own transportation. Any special talents or experiences a person possesses will also be considered.

If you would like to apply for a work trade position, please submit an application along with a resume and letter describing your interest in the position and what you hope to get out of your experience. Please apply by Feb 15, 2007; decisions will be made by March 15, 2007.

If you have additional questions, please contact us.
